About the Speaker
Dr. Prajvala Kurtakoti is a physical oceanographer currently serving as the Dr. George S. Benton Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Kurtakoti’s interests include studying ocean circulation, vertical stratification, mixing, coupling between ocean, atmosphere and sea ice, upper ocean temperature and salinity distribution, and their control on earth’s past, present and future climate, its variations and predictions. She has earned a Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography from Texas A&M University, a Masters degree in Physical Oceanography from Memorial University in Newfoundland, Canada and an Engineering Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
