Iceland: Land of Fire and Ice (Study Abroad Opportunity)

Immerse yourself in the unique natural environment and cultural landscape of Iceland in Summer 2024! A modern Scandinavian country steeped in mythical history, Iceland is a land of vivid contrasts of climate, geography, and culture. Experience urban life in the capital city of Reykjavik and explore Iceland’s wilder side – glaciers, volcanoes, geysers, and lava fields. Study geothermal energy, climate change, food systems, natural hazards, and settlement patterns and learn firsthand about tectonic activity as you stand at the Mid-Oceanic Ridge.

Program highlights include visits to the national power company of Iceland, the Arkanes Folk Museum, the Blue Lagoon, the Golden Circle, and the Westman Islands (Vastermannaeyjar).

Participants will take GEOG 494 Travel and Study Abroad in Geography (3 credits) with Dr. Michael Allen.

Full program details and the application are available in Horizons.

For more information, contact Dr. Allen. You can also contact the TU Study Abroad & Away Office by email, by calling 410-704-2451, or by online chat at towson.edu/abroad.
