Participants 50 years or Older Needed for Research Study

Re-Picturing the Playground: Exploring Older Adults’ Evolving Experiences and
Understandings of Meaningful Play and Physical Activity

Dr. Donal Howley, professor for the Kinesiology Department within the College of Health Professions is seeking individuals 50 years or older to participate in his research study. Participants will share their experiences and understandings of meaningful play and physical activity across their lifetime to present day. This research project is Institutional Review Board approved by Towson University. Those who participate will be asked to take a maximum of 10 photos on their smartphone about what the concept of meaningful play and what physical activity means to them, and how it looks across their lifetime. There will be one 30-45 minute interview after the photos are taken, and the option to participate in a final  1-hour focus group meeting. Participants can meet in person at a reserved location at Towson University or over zoom video call. Individuals will receive $25 each time they participate in an interview or focus group, up to a maximum of two times and $50.

Please contact Donal Howley, at dhowley@towson.edu or 410-704-2074 if you are interested
in participating or with any questions you may have about this project.

One of the greatest things about physical activity and play is that they make our lives go better,
not just longer. It is the quality of life, the joy of being alive, the things we do with our good
health that matter to us as much or more than health itself –
