High Impact Practice Community of Practice (CoP) Meeting

Engaged learning environments provide students with opportunities to be active, creative, and critical in their learning process. While engaged learning tactics have evolved over time, the development of 11 high impact practices (HIPs; Kuh, 2008; Watson et al., 2016) have provided a framework to enhance both the depth and breadth of engagement on campus through both curricular and co-curricular activities.

HIPs provide a platform for engagement, community-building, and innovation with the goals of promoting equity and addressing achievement gaps. In this vein, we welcome the High Impact Practice Community of Practice (HIP CoP) to Towson University! We hope you will join us for our first full campus meeting on February 17, 12-1pm, in CK 404B to discuss HIPs, their place on campus, and how you can engage.

HIP CoP Objectives:
o    Advocate for resources (internally and externally)
o    Provide recommendations regarding engaged learning and HIPs to campus and state leadership
o    Develop a framework and infrastructure for HIPs at TU
o    Create resources/materials to foster best practices and doing HIPs well
o    Encourage and support faculty and staff in engaging in both the practice and scholarship of
