International Education Week: Today’s Events

TU International is pleased to invite all students, faculty, and staff to participate in International Education Week 2022. This joint initiative from the U.S. Departments of Education and State highlights new and continuing international activities on campus. It starts Monday (Nov. 14) and will continue throughout the week with events, interactive activities, information sessions and more!

Today’s Events:

Fisher College of Science and Mathematics Study Abroad & Away Pop-Up Fair

Come to our pop-up Study Abroad & Away Fair to explore opportunities to study science abroad or away, get information about financial aid and scholarships, and get free giveaways!

Creative Confluence: South Asian Community Reflections, Connections, and Dialogue 
11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Asian Arts Gallery
Discover the intersecting and distinct experiences of 21 South Asian artists who share their perspectives on lineage, self-identity, ideas of homeland, spiritual traditions, sensory experience, and connections to the natural world.

Come to a group advising session to learn about studying abroad or away with TU.

Funding Opportunities for Study Abroad

Do you need money for your studies? For an academic experience abroad? Whether you’ve already applied for study abroad, want to learn more about studying or interning abroad, or need funds to support tuition and books but don’t have the resources to do so, this session is for you. There are various grants and scholarships that will make your dream of studying abroad possible, both inside and outside our University. In addition, the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures has a number of scholarships that will help defray the cost of your studies. If you’d like to learn more about these scholarships and how to apply, join Katie Villamar from the Study Abroad & Away Office, and Professor Diego del Pozo from the Department of Language, Literatures, and Cultures at this special interest meeting.

World Artists Experiences Fall Virtual Symposium: Saving Culture
Virtual Summit #1: What is Saved, Who Decides, and Why?

Greg Faller (Associate Dean, Towson University College of Fine Arts & Communication), Corine Wegener (Director of the Smithsonian Cultural Rescue Initiative), and Igor Posyvailo (Director of the Special Ukraine Cultural Preservation) will discuss the complexity of issues involved in decisions around preserving elements of cultural heritage. This session will explore questions around culture, institutions, advocacy, and cultural elements that drive the decision-making process to aid in the preservation of cultural heritage. They will illustrate this fascinating discussion using one historical and one current example of cultural preservation.
