New Process for Budget Transfers

When Stratus goes live on Monday, it will modernize, standardize and simplify TU business processes. All employees will be able to enter purchase requisitions and travel authorizations, while existing PeopleSoft users will have expanded self-service capabilities. Get familiar with the Stratus project and complete training now for modules you expect to use after launch.

Customized Budget Monitoring

Stratus’s customizable budget monitors help you track every level of your budget for improved decision making. You can build a range of monitors to view budgets, commitments and expenditures from different perspectives, then save them to check whenever needed. Set criteria to roll up cost centers, departments, units and sub-divisions. Use drill-down capabilities to see budget details down to the transaction level. Get acquainted with budget monitoring in Stratus:

Budget Transfers

In Stratus, budget transfers are simplified into one entry page completed outside of the system. A representative from the cost center giving the spending authority should complete the budget transfers spreadsheet, save it with their name/initials in the file name and submit it to the University Budget Office. You can build and use templates for routine transfers to streamline the process. Learn more in the budget transfers self-help doc.

Tips & Tricks

When creating a budget monitor, determine what level of data you need in advance. Are you looking for budget information at the cost center level, unit level, or for the whole division?   Remember that you can roll up multiple sources by selecting “all source values.” You can also drill down on any fields highlighted in blue.

Budget transfers and monitors will use the redesigned chart of accounts (COA). We recommend reviewing the chart of accounts training resources, including the COA crosswalk, before working with budgets in Stratus. You can compare the PeopleSoft and Stratus COA and learn how to use shorthand aliases.
