Stratus Is Coming – Here’s What to Know

When Stratus launches on July 11, it will modernize, standardize and simplify TU business processes.  Here’s what you need to know:

What’s changing?

Stratus is replacing PeopleSoft Financials. In the new system, employees can enter their own requisitions and expenses, including travel, ProCard and employee reimbursements. Supervisors will review and approve requisitions, expenses and expense reports. Cost center managers and financial stewards will perform final reviews and audits. Depending on your office’s process, you might be an individual delegated to enter expense items and reports on someone else’s behalf. Students will not have access to Stratus Financials-they’ll use DocuSign for travel expenses.

What are the benefits?

Besides offering streamlined and modernized business systems, TU employees can expect:

  • Improved efficiency and fewer manual processes
  • Convenience through notifications and alerts
  • Simplicity with reduced add-ons and workarounds
  • Real-time information on budget availability
  • Fewer external spreadsheets
  • Quarterly updates providing new functionality

Who’s impacted?

The project will have a campus-wide impact. It will be greatest for those employees using PeopleSoft to perform financial functions, such as budgeting, reporting, and procurement because those processes will be changing. Additionally, anyone traveling for university business will have a new system to submit expenses.

System Access

After go-live, Stratus will be accessible via a tile on MyTU. At this point, Tiger Travel is no longer available, and access to PeopleSoft Financials is limited to users performing year-end activities and reporting.

Training

Learn how to use Stratus by watching videos and accessing self-help docs on the Stratus Training webpage. There are resources and FAQ for all modules. If you need assistance after completing training, email stratusfinancialsteam@towson.edu or sign up for an optional office hours session with a Stratus expert.

Faculty and staff should complete training for any module they expect to use. Supervisors, financial stewards and cost center managers are required to complete training for all modules before July 11 to facilitate a smooth transition to the new approval process.
