Dr. Rachel Racicot, Research Assistant Professor
Department of Biological Sciences, Vanderbilt University
“Digital dolphins and the evolution and development of the aquatic sensory systems”
Dr. Racicot’s research has centered on estimating hearing range in whales and dolphins by comparing the shape of their inner ear and with modern measurements of their hearing range. This approach allows her to determine what frequencies extinct dolphin and whale species could hear and has been used to evaluate the evolution of echolocation.
