Study Abroad Iceland – Applications due tomorrow!

Study Abroad happening this summer! The deadline to apply for the International Perspectives on Sport for Life faculty-led study abroad program has been extended through March 24. The scholarship application deadline has been extended until April 3.

Study in Iceland with Towson University in summer 2022. Known as the land of fire and ice, Iceland provides world-leading models of organizations related to the successful development of athletes for professional and international competition, as well as the development of physical activity participation across the lifespan. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of the cultural and scientific aspects of sport and physical activity from a global perspective through first-hand experience.

Based in Reykjavik, this program features guest lectures by professionals from a variety of sport and performance-related organizations, visits to sport training venues, and opportunities to gain professional experience and knowledge regarding sport and physical activity policies and programs aimed at promoting participation for all ages. Program highlights include visits to sport training venues and outdoor recreation sites, attendance at sporting events, a glacier hike, an excursion to the Blue Lagoon, and an overnight excursion to the wild Westman Islands.

Sudents will take KNES 494 Travel and Study in Kinesiology (3 credits) plus choose from one of the following courses for a total of 6 credits:

  • KNES 471 Selected Topics in Exercise Science (3 credits)
  • KNES 472 Selected Topics in Sport Management (3 credits)
