Report COVID-19 Exposures or Cases Promptly

The safe return to living and learning on campus has been successful thanks to the efforts of all TU students, faculty and staff. Vaccinations, indoor masking, daily self-screenings and routine testing of exempt individuals have already proven effective in limiting the introduction and spread of COVID-19. As we enter the fall season, it’s important to stay vigilant for potential infections and variants. Now is not the time to let our collective guard down, despite near 100% vaccination compliance.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms:

Symptomatic students, faculty and staff should immediately complete a Tigers Care QuickScan self-screening, whether you’re vaccinated or not. Unsure if your symptoms are related to COVID? When in doubt, fill it out.

If you have a COVID-19 close contact exposure:

An exposure should be reported if there was close contact. Close contact with a COVID positive individual, masked or unmasked, is defined as closer than 6 feet for more than 15 minutes in any 24-hour period of time. If you believe you’ve been in contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19, whether you’re vaccinated or not, complete a Tigers Care QuickScan self-screening to report the potential exposure.

If you have a confirmed case of COVID-19:

Confirmed cases should be reported immediately using the COVID-19 reporting form. If you test positive for COVID-19, even if you’re not symptomatic, stay home and avoid campus until you report the diagnosis and are cleared to return. Once reported, TU’s contact tracing team within the University Health Center (UHC) will determine what, if any, close contact exposures may have occurred and identify appropriate next steps, including quarantine and isolation protocols.

Health and safety are the number one priority on campus this fall. Reporting symptoms, exposures and cases promptly will help ensure our entire TU community is protected while on campus. We will continue to communicate promptly with you regarding changes in campus protocols.
