Don’t Forget! Sign up for CBE’s Virtual Spring Sales Competition

The College of Business and Economics is expanding the experiential aspect of its Professional Sales curriculum by adding the Virtual Spring Sales Competition to its existing fall Annual Strategic Sales Competition. The one-day sales role play event is scheduled for April 23, 2021. With the sales scenario and product provided by Stanley Black & Decker, student contestants will receive preparation materials two weeks in advance and get ready for a 15-minute one-on-one virtual sales meeting with a potential “buyer”, during which they will go through need identification, propose a solution to the buyer’s situation, address buyer’s concerns, and potentially make a sale. The exchange will be evaluated by several judges who score each student’s execution of the stages of the sales process using a set of evaluation criteria. All buyers and judges are career salespeople, recruiters, or sales managers. The Virtual Spring Sales Competition is a great opportunity for students to get hands-on experience in selling virtually, network with sales professionals, and potentially land a job interview with one of the participating companies. The top 5 students will also receive Amazon gift cards ranging from $50 to $500.

The event will become a contributor to CBE’s strategic goal of closely engaging with the vibrant local business community by offering its corporate partners a great way to see Towson University’s best student professional sales talent in action and a chance to recruit during the competition.

The Virtual Spring Sales Competition is open to all TU students. To help students prepare for the big day, there will be a faculty-led informational session on April 14 at 2 PM and a product training/Q&A session offered by Stanley Black & Decker on April 16 from 1 to 2 PM. Interested students can sign up by sending their resume to marketing@towson.edu by April 12.
