Temporary Exception to Annual Leave “Carryover” Limit

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the University System of Maryland (“USM”) has issued guidance temporarily permitting institutions to increase the amount of annual leave that may be carried into a new calendar year. Under Board of Regents VII – 7.00 – Policy on Annual Leave for Regular Nonexempt and Exempt Staff Employees, 400 hours of annual leave may be carried over. As a result, TU has temporarily raised the annual leave carryover maximum limit to 480 hours (60 workdays of 8 hours each).

This temporary exception applies to all TU employees who accrue annual leave and will remain effective through calendar year 2022. Please see the full text of the USM guidance for further details.
