Help Maryland and America Vote – Become an Election Judge!

Today is National Poll Worker Recruitment Day, so we invite you to please consider serving as an election judge/poll worker this year!

The United States is facing a record shortage of poll workers/election judges this year due to the coronavirus, and Maryland is no exception. Our democracy depends on ordinary people who make sure elections run smoothly and everyone’s vote is counted. You can make sure we have a safe, fair, efficient election for all, and get paid in the process.

Because of this, Towson University joins the U.S. Election Assistance Commission and Power the Polls to be part of National Poll Worker Recruitment Day, aiming to raise awareness about the benefits and importance of poll working, and to inspire members of the Towson University community to volunteer.

In Maryland, you can serve as an election judge if you are:

  • Age 16 or older;
  • Are a registered voter in Maryland;
  • Physically and mentally able to work at least a 15-hour day;
  • Willing to work outside your home precinct;
  • Able to sit and/or stand for an extended period; and
  • Can speak, read, and write English.

If you are interested in serving your community and helping to protect the democratic process, please visit the Maryland State Board of Elections website to sign-up to become an election judge for Election Day (November 3), or Early Voting (October 26 – November 2). With the election fast approaching, please sign-up as soon as possible.

Questions can be submitted to info.SBE@maryland.gov or to 410-269-2840.
