Interfaith Meditation Spaces Fall 2020 Reminder

The Office of Inclusion and Institutional Equity would like to provide the following update on the Interfaith Meditation Spaces on Campus for Fall 2020.

  1. Room 117 of Enrollment Services is no longer available. More Information will be shared as additional spaces become available.
  2. Room 404C in Cook Library is available during normal library hours but subject to building capacity.
  1. Room 208B in the union is available during the following hours
    • Mon – Fri     6 AM – 11:30 PM
    • Sat                 6:30 AM – 11:30 PM
    • Sun                8 AM – 11:30 PM
    • Key access is available through the information desk on the second floor.
  1. New COVID-19 guidelines for room use in addition to the current guidelines:
    • TU is a mask-on community. A mask is REQUIRED for entry.
    • Each room is limited to three (3) people at a time ONLY.
    • Use the hand-sanitizer and wipes before and after using the room. All wipes must go in the landfill trash can. This room is cleaned regularly; however, it is not disinfected regularly.
    • You are encouraged to bring your own worship aids, prayer rugs, hymnals, religious texts and other bulletins, books, or if possible, projecting prayers, songs, and texts using electronic media.
    • Student organizations are not permitted to meet in person during the Fall 2020 Semester. All students and staff affiliated with Campus Ministries are encouraged to conduct meetings virtually.

Regular guidelines for room use:

  1. The room is for meditation and reflection; NOT as a lounge, study room, meeting room, or purposes not involving prayer or meditation. Please respect the need for a peaceful and quiet atmosphere for those that need to utilize this space.
  2. Animals are NOT allowed in the room.
  3. Using fire, including but not limited to lit candles or incense is not permitted.
  4. Food and beverages are NOT allowed in the room.
  5. Please keep the room clean. Remove all personal and group materials from the space after use. Please leave the space better than you found it.
  6. Remove symbols of faith after each individual or group usage, ensuring the tone of the room is religiously neutral.
