Guidelines for Fall Move-In 2020!

It’s time to move in Tigers! Parking & Transportation Services and the entire TU community welcomes our resident students back to campus. Fall Move-In will take place from Thursday, Aug. 13 through Sunday, Aug. 23. Here’s what you need to know about upcoming lot adjustments to enable move-in. Please plan accordingly. 

  • Lot 1 at Enrollment Services (previously Lot 17) will be closed beginning on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 5 p.m. through Sunday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. to enable space for move-in traffic. 
  • The ground level of the West Village garage will be restricted to 20 minute move-in unloading.  Parking will be available in the remaining areas of the West Village garage.
  • Lot 4 and Lot 5 at Stadium (previously lots 13 and 14) will be closed beginning August 6 at 5 p.m. through Sunday, Aug. 23 at 10 p.m. in order to accommodate a central check-in process for residents moving onto campus.
  • Lot 7 at SECU (previously Lot 20) may be closed in the event of inclement weather in order to relocate the move-in check-in process indoors to SECU Department notifications will be sent the day before to those in the area if this becomes necessary.
  • The backside of Lot 14 at Health Center (previously Lot 6) will be closed and used for an unloading area for residents on Tuesday, Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. through Sunday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m.  
  • 10 West parking (Lot 15) will also be closed for general parking for the duration of Move-In.  Those with Lot 15 Resident permits must park in the Core spaces on the upper levels of the Towsontown garage once they have unloaded.  They may return to Lot 15 for long term parking after 6 p.m. on August 23. 

In addition to lot closures, please read below for helpful information about what to expect for this year’s Fall Move In. 

  • During Fall Move-In, additional designated “Move-In (August 13 – August 23) spaces will be located near each residence hall.   
  • During Fall Move-In, August 13 – August 23 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., campus staff will be located in areas near the resident halls to allow students access to designated areas such as the West Village walkway and Cross Campus in order to unload. Please follow the direction of staff and posted signs.
  • Vehicles may only be parked in “Move-In” spaces for a maximum of 20 minutes. A permit is not required while parked in a “Move-In” space.  However, once vehicles are loaded, you will need to move your vehicle to a legal Core, Overflow or Resident space 
  • Although, no permits are required on campus until Monday, Aug. 24 at 6 a.m., all vehicles must be parked in a legal space.  At no time is any vehicle permitted to be parked in fire lanes, in a roadway, on sidewalks, on grass, or an otherwise reserved space (even for a few minutes).
  • Only vehicles displaying a state-issued accessible (handicapped) license plate/placard may be parked in a handicapped space. If moving in after Sunday, Aug. 23, vehicles must have both the accessible license plate/placard and a valid TU parking permit to park in accessible spaces.  
  • The walkway at West Village, near Lot 1 (previously Lot 17), will be open to vehicles for loading, daily, from Thursday, Aug. 13 through Sunday, Aug. 23 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.  There is no access through Millennium Hall.  Please follow the directions of posted signs and on-duty staff members.  Outside of these times, vehicles must be parked in a legal space or use a “Move In” space.
  • The Gold shuttle will be available beginning each evening during Move-In beginning at 5 p.m.
  • SafeRide will be available from 2:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. beginning Friday, Aug. 13.  Please call 410-704-SAFE to request a ride or escort.
