Featuring songs from “Aladdin,” and “The Lion King” at Power Plant Live

WTMD is thrilled to present a concert of songs from two of the greatest kids’ movies ever. Black Root Underground will perform songs from “The Lion King,” and Kristen Toedtman & Matt Hutchison and their band will do songs from “Aladdin.” This show is rain or shine, held at Power Plant Live’s enclosed outdoor plaza stage, where we held our Phish tribute for kids in June 2019 (check out this video from that show). Parents and kids — dress up as your favorite character from either movie! Doors open at 10:30 a.m. and the show starts at 11 a.m. at 34 Market Place in Baltimore. $5 validated parking is available at the Pier V Garage at 711 E. Pratt St.

More about the performers: Kristen Toedtman has sung on the soundtracks to “Frozen,” “Minions,” Despicable Me 3″ and others, and has shared the stage as soloist or in small ensemble with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Philip Glass Ensemble and Frank Zappa’s Mothers of Invention. Matt Hutchison spent years singing and writing songs for the popular Baltimore rock band Fool & Horses. Black Root Underground is a funk & hip-hop band from Baltimore featuring singer and songwriter Jamaal “Mr Root” Collier, a Young Audiences teaching artist who is one half of the kid-friendly beatboxing duo Baby Beats.
