Reduce electricity from 1:30 to 3 p.m. TODAY

The campus community should reduce their electric usage as much as possible from 1:30 to 3 p.m. today, Thursday, June 27. During this time, turn off all non-critical electric loads, such as unnecessary lights, unoccupied room AC units, fans, idle electronic devices, electronic chargers, etc.  You may also notice your area feeling a little warmer during this time period as we temporarily dial back air conditioning across the campus.

The reduction is part of a BGE load curtailment test which helps to prepare for the event of an extreme heat wave, in which we will need to reduce energy usage to prevent brownouts and blackouts. TU has committed to participate in these tests, with the goal of reducing energy consumption by about 15 percent.

Thanks for your support and assistance. To report severe problems or extreme operational concerns, contact Work Control at x4-2481. For questions, email Stephen Kolb at skolb@towson.edu.
