The presentation will summarize the results of recent research on undergraduate women’s experiences of stalking and cyberstalking after relationships end, ways that stalking intersects with other forms of intimate partner violence, and how experiences of stalking contribute to mental health outcomes. The presentation will also focus on the social context of these behaviors, including the influence of the media on norms about stalking, how friends and peers’ responses to disclosures of stalking impact survivors, and how existing barriers in the criminal justice system influence societal response to stalking and cyberstalking.
