Learn about the Writing Fellows Program

The TU Writing Center will host informational meetings during Finals Week for faculty and students who are interested in learning more about the program. Writing Fellows are embedded tutors in writing-intensive courses. Writing Fellows can provide direct instruction during class on writing strategies and concepts, as well as supplemental workshops and one-on-one feedback sessions. They also work with faculty partners to provide a student perspective on course documents (e.g. syllabi, assignment prompts, rubrics, etc.).

Meeting for Students: Wednesday, December 10 at 10:30am on Zoom

Prospective writing fellows should have a 3.5 GPA and can come from any academic program or major. Writing Fellows earn a $2000 stipend to train during the summer to be embedded in a course in the fall and/or spring term. The meeting will provide information about the application timeline, training schedule, and program expectations. The program director and a current student participant will attend the meeting to answer student questions.

Meeting for Faculty: Friday, December 12 at 10am in LA 5330 or on Zoom

Faculty partners may join the meeting in person or on Zoom. Faculty who teach TSEM, Core 9, Research Methods, or any writing-intensive course are encouraged to apply. Faculty earn a $1000 stipend to attend a summer training workshop and commit to working with a Writing Fellow in their class in either the fall or spring term following training. The program director and a current faculty partner will attend the meeting to answer faculty questions.
