UStore transition plan underway

Following approval on Wednesday by Maryland’s Board of Public Works (BPW), TU will officially begin transitioning the management of the University Store to Follett, a nationally recognized higher education book store retail corporation. Follett was selected after a thorough RFP process, including input from the TU community, and was approved during Wednesday’s BPW meeting.

A transition phase will begin December 1, 2025, with official changeover to Follett’s day-to-day oversight anticipated in March 2026. That transition will ensure the store experience only improves for TU’s students, faculty & staff. The transition will also allow for busy stretches at the end of the fall semester and the start of the spring to be fully supported by both TU and Follett resources, with customer experience as the priority.

This transition will also include a change in the reporting for store management, from the Division of Administration & Finance to contractual oversight within the Division of Operations.

University leadership has held ongoing meetings to support store staff in preparation for this transition, and in the coming weeks will hold meetings with Follett leadership to be sure the transition meets the needs of the campus. That collaboration with store staff and Follett leadership will continue.

Updates will continue to be provided to the TU community on this important transition.
