Don’t Sack Your Voice Before Halftime

Show Spirit and Protect Your Voice

Cheering on our Tigers this Homecoming? Keep your voice strong and healthy all season long!

The National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) will have a table at the Homecoming game this Saturday, so stop by for free noisemakers and learn how to take care of your most important tool: your voice.

Quick Tips for Vocal Health:

  • Avoid yelling and screaming. Try clapping, whistling, or using your noisemaker instead.

  • Stay hydrated. Water keeps your vocal folds working smoothly.

  • Watch late-night eating. Avoid reflux-triggering foods before bed (spicy, fatty, or fried foods, alcohol, etc.).

  • Warm up and rest. Give your voice breaks and skip whispering when tired.

Your voice deserves the same care as the rest of your body.  Protect it now so it lasts a lifetime.

Stop by NSSLHA’s table at the Homecoming game to grab your free noisemaker and learn more about vocal hygiene and healthy habits.
