Windows 10 support ends Oct. 14: what you need to know
Microsoft support for Windows 10 ends on Oct. 14. The Office of Technology Services (OTS) has been working directly with TU offices since spring 2023 to ensure the campus is prepared for this change in vendor support.
As a result of this large-scale and collaborative effort, more than 1,100 university computers were identified as incompatible with Windows 11 and have been replaced, and nearly 1,600 TU computers have been upgraded to be compatible. Thank you to our campus partners for your help!
How to confirm which Windows version you’re running
In the taskbar search (magnifying glass) type winver, then press Enter, and the About Windows dialog box will display the current version.
What to expect/Actions required
Thanks to this multi-year, cross-campus effort, most TU computers are already running Windows 11 and no action is needed for those devices. If your computer is one of the few still running Windows 10, self-upgrade to Windows 11 through the Software Center before Oct. 14.
If you get a pop-up message when logging in, aren’t sure if a device is compatible, or have issues upgrading to Windows 11, please contact the Tech Support Desk at 410-704-5151 for next steps.
