Guidance on AI in IRB research

Towson University’s Office of Sponsored Programs and Research and the Institutional Review Board (IRB) have developed a guidance document for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in research settings involving human subjects and related data.

As AI continues to develop and evolve, researchers have new opportunities to employ AI in their studies and improve project outcomes through its use. Best practices for using AI in human subjects research are still emerging, and given the rapid pace of innovation, this guidance may be subject to change.

The current guidance document, Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Human Subjects Research, along with other helpful IRB resources, can be found here: https://www.towson.edu/academics/research/sponsored/comply/irb/forms.html.
