Faculty workshops on AI and culture of care
Faculty, please join the Faculty Academic Center of Excellence at Towson (FACET) for two workshops this week:
More Than Words: VoiceThread for Engaged Online Conversations
When: September 9, 2025
Time: 12-1 p.m.
Where: Virtual
With AI tools reshaping how students write and communicate. VoiceThread provides a human-centered alternative for online discussions. Students can engage asynchronously through audio, video, and text, fostering authentic conversations that showcase their own voices and perspectives. This session highlights practical applications such as course introductions, social-emotional check-ins, reflections, and lively debates—all designed with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in mind.
Creating a Culture of Care in the Classroom
When: September 10, 2025
Time: 1-2 p.m.
Where: Virtual
Students thrive when they feel seen, heard, and valued—but too often, stress, isolation, and systemic barriers get in the way. This workshop explores how faculty can intentionally design courses and interactions that foster belonging, compassion, and resilience. Together, we’ll look at practical strategies for rethinking the syllabus, using inclusive and encouraging language, and engaging in behaviors that show students they matter.
Session Led by: Mollie Herman (Counseling Center), Jimmy Thren (Student Outreach), Liyan Song (College of Education) and Alissa Harrington (FACET)
