Upcoming Professional Development & Wellness

The Office of Human Resources (OHR) is pleased to share upcoming professional development opportunities for TU faculty and staff:

USM Professional Development Conference

Registration is now open for Fall into Success: Change & Resilience in the Workplace. This is a free, virtual professional development conference open to all USM employees from September 15 to 19. The conference’s workshops, discussions and networking give you an opportunity to build resilience, strengthen your skills and connect with colleagues across the system. Register now and choose from four tracks tailored to different employees’ needs:

  • Track A: Creating & Sustaining Positive Workplace Culture: Build inclusive, trusting, and dynamic work environments.
  • Track B: Leadership Development: Sharpen decision-making, emotional intelligence, and strategic leadership.
  • Track C: High-Impact Productivity: Streamline workflows and boost efficiency across hybrid, remote, or in-person settings.
  • Track D: Work-Life Harmony: Promote holistic wellness to support both career and personal priorities.

Best Practices for Performance Management

OHR is hosting a training for supervisors to learn more about best practices for coaching, counseling and disciplinary action. This training session will help supervisors set clear expectations, identify performance concerns, and determine the appropriate level of action based on TU policies.  This session is specifically recommended for new supervisors. Learn more and register for this session and other professional development opportunities through the OHR Training Calendar. For questions, email hrtraining@towson.edu.

Virtual Wellness Sessions

Faculty and staff have access to the state of Maryland’s lineup of free virtual wellness sessions this August. Sessions include emotional well-being workshops, cooking demos, guided meditations and self-care strategies. Registration is required.
