Geothermal Construction to Begin May 7 in Chapman Quad
TU is proud to announce that construction will soon begin on our first-ever geothermal energy installation, the first of its kind on a state-owned university campus in the state of Maryland.
The project begins May 7, 2025, with initial work focused on Chapman Quad, located on the south side of the Media Center and Cook Library. Following Commencement and student move-out, construction will expand to the large open field between York Road and Stephens Avenue, just east of the Tiger statue. Please see our map, Towson U – Geothermal_Logistics_04032025.
More information:
-
Chapman Quad Restoration is expected to be completed by the end of July 2025, weather permitting.
-
Our field restoration is projected for completion in January 2026
This cutting-edge work represents a significant step forward in TU’s commitment to sustainability and energy.
Thank you for your patience as we bring this new technology to campus.
