BSLC 2025

The Black Student Leadership Conference is a professional development opportunity that creates space for attendees to gain knowledge, tools, and transferable skills to successfully navigate their academic, professional, and personal lives. This year’s theme They Not Like Us: Exploring the Diaspora recognizes the multiple identities that make up the African Diaspora, including but not limited to African, African American, Afro-Latine/x, and Caribbean. However, in certain contexts, these identities are often lumped together as Black. Gaining an understanding of these various identities will shape how students navigate the world around them including everyday practices, beliefs, and social relations.  Exploring the Diaspora will empower students towork together, despite cultural differences, in order to survive, advance, and thrive as leaders on Towson’s campus. Breakout sessions will critically examine and highlight the ways our identities are shaped by traditions/culture, family dynamics, religious/spiritual beliefs, and the communities we are a part of.
