Gun Violence & Firearms Analysis

This presentation will discuss the various types of firearms used in shooting cases and the microscopic analysis of weapons and ammunition in the forensic laboratory.  Ghost guns and 3D printed guns will be discussed with regard to the problems analysts encounter when examining them.  Case studies and court testimony will be presented.

Jennifer Ingbretson is a certified firearms examiner at the Baltimore City Division of Forensic Science since 2014. Her responsibilities include the inventory of firearms and firearms evidence, performing operability examinations and serial number restorations and microscopically comparing fired evidence and toolmarks from crime scenes to determine a unique source.  Jennifer has taught at TU since 2009 in both the undergraduate and graduate Forensic Science programs.
