The State and Democracy in Contemporary Moroccan Political Thought

This sabbatical talk focuses on changing conceptions of the state in Arab intellectual production in the wake of the democratic uprisings of 2010-11. It examines select Moroccan thinkers and how their views of the role and importance of the state have evolved in response to these movements. It also asks what these thinkers can contribute to existing debates concerning the state in relevant literature on the Arab uprisings.
