Winter Break 2024 – Regular Exempt Staff, 12-month Faculty & Librarians

Towson University will be closed on December 20, 2024, for Administrative Leave and Winter Break from December 23, 2024, through January 1, 2025.

Faculty and staff in departments that observe non-traditional work hours and schedules or that perform essential functions should discuss coverage with their supervisors.

Below is helpful information to assist you with completing your timesheet:

  • 12/20/24 – leave code ADMU should be recorded. Leave the day blank if you have an alternative work schedule and do not typically work on Fridays.
  • If you have pre-planned leave on 12/20/24, you will record leave code ADMU instead of your earned leave (this applies to staff on parental leave and FMLA).
  • 24/7 essential personnel required to work on 12/20/24 may record the administrative leave on a future date on or by 1/31/25.
  • You must be in an active, paid status to earn holiday leave.
  • Holiday Leave (HLUSE) will be pre-loaded on the timesheet on Dec. 24, 25, 26, and Jan. 1. (Staff who work shifts will manually enter their holiday leave hours).
  • You are required to use your available leave on Dec. 23, 27, 30, and 31. Earned floating holiday hours are typically recorded on these days.
  • Accrued annual leave (ALUSE) or personal leave (PLUSE) should be used if floating holidays are unavailable. You will record Leave Without Pay (LWOPU) if you do not have available leave.
  • If an employee does not usually work on a day in which a holiday falls, the employee will need to delete the HLUSE hours and leave the day blank.
  • Holiday Leave is pro-rated to your FTE, not your schedule.
    • Full-time employees earn 8 hours of HLUSE, regardless of work schedule.

Timesheets are due Friday, 12/20/24. Because the university is closed as of 12/20/24, time sheets should be completed, submitted, and approved on 12/19/24 before the close of business.
