Faculty, Staff virtual book club Nov-Jan
The Disability, Neurodivergence, and Chronic Illness (Disability+) Faculty and Staff Association (FSA) invites you to join our inaugural book blub!
All faculty and staff are welcome to participate in our conversations on Disability Is Human: The Vital Power of Accessibility in Everyday Life by Dr. Stephanie Cawthon. Dr. Cawthon is a professor, academic leader, and mentor at The University of Texas at Austin in the Department of Educational Psychology. She is also founder and executive director of the National Disability Center for Student Success.
To receive formal calendar invites and share access needs for these virtual gatherings, contact Disability+ FSA co-chair Brittni Ballard via email at bballard@towson.edu. These conversations will not be recorded.
Meeting Details:
- Tuesday, November 19 at 3:30 PM (via Zoom)
- Friday, December 6 at 3:00 PM (via Zoom)
- The third meeting will be scheduled in January.
Participation:
Whether you’ve read every word or just a few pages, you are welcome to join us! You don’t need to complete entire sections of the book to participate meaningfully in our discussions. This is a welcoming space for learning, reflection, and community.
Access the Book:
You may purchase a print copy for $24 or a Kindle copy for $16. An audiobook version is in the works, but not yet available. All purchase links available from Dr. Cawthon’s site.
Why You Should Join:
Dr. Cawthon’s book combines relatable stories, real-world examples, personal experiences, and actionable tips in an effort to build an accessible world that embraces the humanity in all of us. Let’s gather, reflect, and learn from one another in our collective efforts to be a kinder, more inclusive campus!
