How Cook OneSearch Changed Over the Summer and Why It Matters to You
On May 23, 2024, Cook Library (along with 17 other university libraries across Maryland) changed over to a new platform for the library’s single search, Cook OneSearch.
We made this change to replace our 20+ year-old system with newer technology that provides streamlined workflows for staff, enhanced search and discovery features, and a more mobile-friendly user experience.
To learn more about the new system visit our project website.
What does this mean for you?
Faculty:
- You May Need to Update Your Permalinks: The old system went away in June, so you will need to check any permalinks from the old system that are on your website, in your course syllabi, or in your Blackboard courses because they may no longer work. View this handout and video to learn how to generate new permalinks to your favorite library resources.
- Orders: Orders for new materials resumed on July 1.
All Researchers:
- Upgraded Search Experience: The new platform offers faster searching, easier discovery, a personalized search experience, and mobile friendliness while still providing you access to millions of e-resources. Learn more about the new system on our project website.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our Ask A Librarian service or your Subject Librarian with questions.
