Adults 18-35 yrs Old Needed for Research Study
Purpose:
We are conducting a study to test how high-intensity exercise affects your skeletal muscle and vascular health
Inclusion criteria (who can participate):
- Healthy, non-smokers
- 18-35 yrs old
- Have a body mass index (BMI) under 30. If you are unsure of your BMI, you can check it here => https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/educational/lose_wt/BMI/bmicalc.htm
- Recreationally active, who engage in moderate intensity aerobic or resistance exercise for 80 minutes/week.
Exclusion criteria (who cannot participate):
- Smokers
- Those with a BMI > 30kg/m2
- Individuals with musculoskeletal injury, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorder, or any health condition in which exercise is not recommended
- Inactive individuals
- Competitive athletes
Study requirements:
Testing will involve 2 visits to our lab at Towson University scheduled within a 2-wk timeframe. Each visit will take about 2-2.5 hrs.
Testing (what to expect):
- Questionnaires about individuals health and physical activity
- Blood pressure and vascular measures
- Body composition analyses
- A muscle stimulation test
- A high intensity exercise test (first visit) and a low intensity exercise test (second visit) on a bicycle
- A finger prick for blood testing
