2024 is both an election year and the 60th anniversary of the Freedom Summer project of 1964, when student activists launched a voter registration campaign to register Black voters in the Jim Crow South. In honor of this historic moment in civil rights history, Cook Library will be hosting a documentary screening of Fannie Lou Hamer’s America and discussion over lunch. Come join us for a discussion about activism, voting rights, and education.
Learn more about Freedom Summer and the fight for voting rights by stopping by the book display on the 3rd floor of Cook Library for the month of February, or check out the Freedom Summer and Voting Rights resource collection to find books, podcasts, movies, and more.
