Applied Ethics & National Security Scholarship
The College of Liberal Arts invites its students to apply to the Applied Ethics and National Security Scholarship, which was established in early 2023.
Awarded to a student who has declared their major in one of the departments or programs located in the College of Liberal Arts, the scholarship provides $2000 to recipients towards the costs of tuition or other University charges.
The application requires the submission of a 1000-word essay demonstrating application of ethics in an area(s) related to national security. Feasible topics include ethical issues in areas surrounding artificial intelligence, social media, cyber warfare, law of armed conflict, or any US Department of Defense Policies.
Essays will be evaluated on quality of writing, identification, and clear description of at least one specific issue, the impact of ethics on the issue, and the use of specific examples to highlight the discussion. If references are used, they need to be cited accurately.
