Sabbatical Presentation by Steven Satta, Department of Theatre Arts, College of Fine Arts & Communication
Steven Satta, Professor in the Department of Theatre Arts, presents his sabbatical performance and talk-back on Thursday, 9 November in the Ruth Marder Studio Theatre. The title of his performance is Lily, Arthur.
It’s 1943. Young Private “Mac” McAllister lands a dream assignment as accompanist for Miss Lily Arthur, a singer who entertains the troops. Lily is the alter ego of Captain Arthur Lily of the U.S. Army. When Mac is asked to create a female persona and do a “sister act” with Lily, he finds himself at odds and in a romantic tangle with Arthur and Captain Connie Heller of the Women’s Army Corp. Lily, Arthur traces Mac’s awakening as a proud gay man on the threshold of the post-war homophile movement.
