Faculty/Staff: Change to Duo login process effective today
As of today, faculty and staff will be required to enter a four-digit code when prompted using Duo. This new “verified push” proves you initiated the login by auto-generating a random number that authenticates you for a single login session and replaces clicking “accept or deny.” Learn more in the TechHelp Knowledge Base article.
About the project
This is the next step following the January 2023 change to Microsoft 365 logins and the June 2023 update to the Duo prompts. The overall effort modernizes TU’s Single Sign-On (SSO) process, enhances security capabilities, improves the digital experience and streamlines systems and lays the foundation for future Duo enhancements.
What to expect
When logging into TU systems through Single Sign-On (SSO), you’ll get an onscreen code. Launch the Duo app on your device and enter that code. Click “Verify.” You can also set Duo to remember you for seven days to lessen the number of prompts you receive. Duo devices are still managed through towson.edu/netid.
Be sure to check for and apply updates to the Duo app through your provider’s store. Not using a smartphone or device? Your steps haven’t changed yet, but there are possible upcoming adjustments if you use SMS, phone call or hardware token processes. It’s recommended that you switch to the Duo app for a more modern experience, plus it will make future tech or process enhancements/changes easier to apply.
