Study Abroad in Ecuador during Minimester 2024
Immerse yourself in the Spanish language and learn about indigenous cultures in Cuenca, Ecuador. Receive highly personalized instruction and learn to use Spanish in practical and authentic contexts while exploring this beautiful country. Students take classes at Estudio Sampere language school which specializes in teaching Spanish language to international students. Estudio Sampere offers courses at all levels from beginner to advanced.
The program is located in Cuenca – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and features weekend excursions to the ruins at Ingapirca, the equator, and the incredible Otavalo indigenous market. Other program highlights include a tour of Quito’s historical city center, a visit to Pumapungo archeological park, a canopy tour, museum visits, and cultural activities.
Participants will take 3 credit hours of Spanish as determined by consultation with Dr. Hanna prior to departure. Courses include: SPAN 101 Spanish Elements (Core 5), SPAN 102 Spanish Elements II (Core 12), SPAN 201 Spanish Intermediate I (Core 5), SPAN 202 Spanish Intermediate II (Core 12), SPAN 305 Readings in Spanish, SPAN 370 Pronunciation and Oral Expression, SPAN 391 Advanced Spanish Grammar, and SPAN 408 Spanish in the Community. *Students who place in a level they have already completed at TU will earn SPAN elective credit.
