  • William D. Clarke, Sr. Diplomatic Security Fellowships – The application for the 2024 cohort of the William D. Clarke, Sr. Diplomatic Security Fellowship is now officially open. Most importantly, among other eligibility details, you must be enrolled in any 2-year master’s program in fall of 2024. This two-year graduate fellowship program funded by the U.S. Department of State provides up to $84,000 in academic funding over two years, two summer practicums, professional development, and mentorship, culminating in an appointment in the Foreign Service as a Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) Special Agent. There is no age limit for students who are veterans.

What should students do?  Students interested in receiving feedback on their application can submit their material here by September 1st, 2023.The national application deadline is October 1, 2023, at 11:59 pm (ET).

  • Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship Program – The Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship Program is a premier U.S. Department of State program created to attract diverse talent to its Foreign Service. The Fellowship seeks individuals committed to promoting positive change in the world as U.S. diplomats in the Foreign Service. Foreign Service Officers represent the United States in countries around the world by promoting human rights, assisting American citizens overseas, enhancing prosperity and development, deepening ties between the United States and people around the world, and supporting U.S. global values and interests. The Fellowship encourages the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, women, and those with financial need. Eligibility includes rising seniors and alumni who plan to begin any master’s program in fall 2024 related to the Foreign Service (public policy, international affairs, public administration, business, economics, political science, management science, organizational development/leadership, sociology, or regional studies).

  • The Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellowship ProgramThe Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellowship Program is now accepting applications to the 2024 Fellowship. This graduate fellowship offers a unique opportunity to promote positive change in the world.  Upon successful completion of a two-year master’s degree program and fulfillment of fellowship and Foreign Service entry requirements, fellows have the opportunity to work as Foreign Service Officers with the U.S. Department of State, in accordance with applicable law and State Department policy, serving in Washington, DC and at U.S. embassies, consulates, and diplomatic missions around the globe. The program seeks to attract and prepare outstanding individuals who represent ethnic, gender, social, and geographic diversity and have an interest in pursuing a Foreign Service career in the U.S. Department of State.  The Program encourages the application of members of minority groups historically underrepresented in the Foreign Service, women, and those with financial need.

  • The Luce Scholarship – The Luce Scholars Program is a nationally competitive fellowship that offers early career leaders immersive, professional experiences in Asia. The program aims to forge stronger, more informed, more compassionate relationships across geographic borders by creating opportunities for young Americans across diverse sectors and interests to deepen their ties and understanding of the countries, cultures, and people of Asia.

Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents, the Luce Scholars Program provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia for 18 Luce Scholars each year. They welcome applications from college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals in a variety of fields, with a range of backgrounds and experiences, who have had limited exposure to Asia. This transformational program is experiential rather than academic and is not for those seeking research funding.

  • Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans – The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans, is a $90,000 fellowship for immigrants and children of immigrants going to graduate school in the United States. If you are an immigrant or child of immigrants who will be a college senior this fall, a college graduate who is applying to graduate school this fall, or someone in the first or second year of a graduate program you’ll be in during the 2024-2025 academic year, consider applying. You can be pursuing any type of professional or graduate degree—including master’s degrees, MFAs, JDs, PhDs, MDs, MBAs, MPPs, and the list goes on!

They are look for students who are hard-working, creative, willing to ask big questions, and looking to make a significant contribution to American society or their academic field.

Applicable to graduate students in any field

  •  ASF Fellowships for Americans in the Nordic Countries – The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) is pleased to announce that is now accepting applications for Fellowships for Americans in the Nordic Countries in the 2024-25 academic year. Additionally, ASF is pleased to announce the new Inger and Jens Bruun Fellowship, supported by the Scan Design Foundation, for advanced study and research related to environmental stewardship and sustainability in Denmark (including Greenland and the Faroe Islands).

ASF offers both year-long fellowships of up to $23,000 and short-term (1-3 month) grants of up to $5,000 to graduate students (preferably dissertation-related) and academic professionals interested in pursuing research or creative arts projects in the Nordic region (Denmark, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Sámpi). Awards are given in all fields.
