Office of Competitive Fellowships and Awards: Multiple Opportunities for any major – Apply Now!

Applicable to  Undergraduate and Graduate Students

• The Luce Scholarship – The Luce Scholars Program is a nationally competitive fellowship that offers early career leaders immersive, professional experiences in Asia. The program aims to forge stronger, more informed, more compassionate relationships across geographic borders by creating opportunities for young Americans across diverse sectors and interests to deepen their ties and understanding of the countries, cultures, and people of Asia.

Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents, the Luce Scholars Program provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia for 18 Luce Scholars each year. They welcome applications from college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals in a variety of fields, with a range of backgrounds and experiences, who have had limited exposure to Asia. This transformational program is experiential rather than academic and is not for those seeking research funding.

What should students do?  Students who would like to apply and receive feedback on their application material should email Dr. Devadas at tucfa@towson.edu asap to receive a link. This form needs to be submitted by August 1^st 2023 and students are encouraged to attend a Zoom information session on June 30^th or July 1^st at 2 pm hosted by Office of Competitve Fellowships and Awards. The national deadline is October 16, 2023 5 pm EST.

• Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans – The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans, is a $90,000 fellowship for immigrants and children of immigrants going to graduate school in the United States. If you are an immigrant or child of immigrants who will be a college senior this fall, a college graduate who is applying to graduate school this fall, or someone in the first or second year of a graduate program you’ll be in during the 2024-2025 academic year, consider applying. You can be pursuing any type of professional or graduate degree—including master’s degrees, MFAs, JDs, PhDs, MDs, MBAs, MPPs, and the list goes on! 

They are look for students who are hard-working, creative, willing to ask big questions, and looking to make a significant contribution to American society or their academic field. 

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans has four upcoming 30-minute virtual information sessions you can attend:

Applicable to Graduate Students in any field:

•  ASF Fellowships for Americans in the Nordic Countries – The American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) is pleased to announce that is now accepting applications for Fellowships for Americans in the Nordic Countries in the 2024-25 academic year. Additionally, ASF is pleased to announce the new Inger and Jens Bruun Fellowship, supported by the ScanDesign Foundation, for advanced study and research related to environmental stewardship and sustainability in Denmark (including Greenland and the Faroe Islands).

ASF offers both year-long fellowships of up to $23,000 and short-term (1-3 month) grants of up to $5,000 to graduate students (preferably dissertation-related) and academic professionals interested in pursuing research or creative arts projects in the Nordic region (Denmark, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Sámpi). Awards are given in all fields.
The national deadline is: November 1, 2023
