Media and Culture in Florence, Italy (Study Abroad Opportunity)

Study in Florence, Italy with Towson University in Summer 2024! Explore the differences between U.S. and Italian culture and media and gain an understanding of the economics of the content business in Italy. Meet Florence-based content producers, editors, and publishers and learn about their jobs, their pay, how they got started in the business, and their day-to-day lives in Italy. Participants will study various forms of travel and tourism content including blogs, guidebooks, social media, and magazine and web content.

Program highlights include a mini job fair and the opportunity to network with companies looking to hire English-speaking media interns and workers and visits to the Uffizi GalleryGalleria dell’Accademia (to see the Statue of David), San Lorenzo MarketPonte VecchioPalazzo Vecchio, and the Duomo.

Participants will take MCOM 494 Travel and Study Abroad in Mass Communication (3 credits) with Dr. Michelle Nicolosi.
