Finding the Good Life: An Exploration of the Happiest Place on Earth (Study Abroad Opportunity)
Earn six credits studying positive psychology in Denmark and Finland in Summer 2024! Gain an understanding of the human pursuit of happiness by comparing and contrasting the way different cultures have sought pleasure throughout history. Explore what “makes life worth living” and constitutes “the good life” in both the U.S. and Scandinavia.
Participants will spend time in the cities of Copenhagen and Helsinki in addition to visiting national parks and nature preserves to discover how the natural world influences experiences of happiness. Program highlights include guest lectures by local experts, a walking tour of Helsinki, visits to the Happiness Research Institute, the National Museum of Denmark, Tivoli Gardens, and the Design Museum, and much more!
Participants will take the following courses with Professors Christa Schmidt and Kerri Goodwin for a total of 6 credits: PSYC 494/594 Travel and Study Abroad in Psychology and PSYC 470/570 Special Topics in Psychology.
The application deadline is March 15, 2024. Full program details and the application are available in Horizons.
