Market Assessment and Pay Study (MAPS) Update

Over the past year, TU Vice Presidents, Deans, and Associate Vice Presidents have collaborated with Human Resources on Phase II of the Market Assessment and Pay Study (MAPS).  This study was launched in 2019 as part of our ongoing commitment to support market competitive pay across the institution.

When the MAPS first began, we communicated that it would be a multi-phase process implemented over several years.  Phase I was completed in 2021, with a focus on ensuring all TU employees were paid within the range of the competitive market pay data.  Phase II examined situations of significant inequities caused by salary inversion, compression, being paid below a competitive range, or disparity across protected groups.

Through a careful and deliberate review process across the institution over the past five months, pay adjustments were recommended to address the most significant and egregious inequities.  Approximately 200 faculty and staff were recently informed they received an adjustment at the end of Phase II.

TU now moves to Phase III, which focuses on less egregious compression and/or equity concerns. This phase will continue to examine issues identified in Phase II, as well as instances of inequity caused by significant and substantial changes in job duties.
