Volunteers Needed! Help Sort Move Out Donations
When TU students move out, a partnership between Facilities Management, Housing and Residence Life, ABM, and Ascension Lutheran Church jumps into action to handle all of the unwanted/surplus items left behind.
Unopened nonperishable food is sorted and given to the TU FoodShare, Assistance Center of Towson Churches, and other local agencies. All remaining unwanted/surplus items are then prepared for a yard sale with all proceeds going to Project PLASE, which provides emergency and transitional housing to neighbors in Baltimore City and County. All sorting of items is done at the Ascension Lutheran Church parking lot, across from 7601 York Road.
We are seeking TU faculty and staff volunteers to help sort items on Tuesday, May 30, 1-4 p.m.
TU faculty and staff can use Community Service Leave to participate. View the OHR Community Service Leave Agreement to learn more.
The yard sale is scheduled to be held on June 3 (rain date June 10) from 9 am – 12 pm at the Ascension Lutheran Church parking lot. Your support is very much appreciated! Please email sustainability@towson.edu with any questions.
