Reminder! Student Google mail and files are moving to Microsoft
The Office of Technology Services (OTS) will be migrating your email, files and contacts from Google Suite to Microsoft Outlook and OneDrive after the spring term ends. This applies if you didn’t opt-in to move early throughout the spring.
What you need to know
- Your email address won’t change.
- You can use OneDrive now for file sharing/storage.
- If you opted in to migrate early, you’re all set! If not, you’ll get a confirmation email from OTS Student Computing Services (SCS) when your Outlook email account is ready, between May 26-29.
- Keep using Gmail and don’t touch files in the new “GDrive” folder of your OneDrive until notified by SCS that your Outlook account is ready.
- Enrolled for TU’s first summer session? You’ll start using Outlook and OneDrive for your first day of class and might get a confirmation email earlier than May 26.
- Graduating this month? Don’t worry – you can access your M365 account for 18 months.
Accessing email and files after the migration
Once the migration is complete, you’ll use Microsoft Outlook for email and calendaring and OneDrive for file storage/sharing. You can install M365 on up to five personal devices or access Microsoft apps one of these ways:
- The full suite of MS apps: m365.towson.edu and myTU for Students.
- Individual apps: onedrive.towson.edu and outlook.towson.edu.
- On mobile: download Outlook, OneDrive and Microsoft 365 apps from your device’s store.
- You can continue to use webmail.towson.edu to access email for the foreseeable future, but it’s recommended to start using outlook.towson.edu now.
