Sabbatical Presentation by Kathryn Evans, Department of Music, College of Fine Arts and Communication
Kathryn Evans, Associate Professor in the Department of Music, presents her sabbatical talk on Friday, May 12, 3:00pm on Zoom. The title of her presentation is “A Place for Everyone: Embracing Learner Variability through Universal Design for Learning.”
Our students come to us with a wide range of abilities, learning preferences, and interests. Now more than ever, teachers must find creative ways to connect with students and engage them in learning. Universal Design for Learning provides a framework for creating flexible approaches that increase access and learning for ALL students, including students with disabilities, English Language Learners, and students who are motivated to learn in different ways. This presentation will explore classroom-tested UDL-inspired strategies to increase student engagement through visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile activities that can be used in choral classrooms/studios and with students of all ages and ability levels.
Kathryn Evans’ sabbatical talk will be presented as part of COFAC’s Colloquium 57 on Friday, May 12, at 3:00pm on Zoom.
