Dean Mullen’s Sabbatical Lecture Series: Katherine Holman, Ph.D.
All Teach, All Learn: Empowering Educators through an ECHO-Enhanced Community of Practice
Dr. Katherine Holman, Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education, will discuss her sabbatical project titled All Teach, All Learn: Empowering Educators through an ECHO-Enhanced Community of Practice. ECHO, which stands for Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes, is a virtual professional development model that is empowering global change in health, education, and civics. Public school systems continue to be in great need of effective and ongoing professional development that provides knowledge on best practices, particularly in supporting autistic students. Dr. Holman will present findings on the ECHO-Enhanced Community of Practice she facilitated for Baltimore County Public School educators and its impact on participant’s knowledge, self-efficacy, and sense of community. She will also share the subsequent ways she has continued to use the ECHO model to support growth and learning in students, faculty, and additional BCPS partners.
