Virtual Training with the USM Foundation – Implicit Bias: The Hidden Bias of Good People
Implicit Bias: The Hidden Bias of Good People
Thursday, February 16, 2023
10:00 am – 11:30 am
Zoom
Description:
Our brains are wired to find shortcuts. Those shortcuts, however, can oftentimes pair information together we aren’t aware of or didn’t mean to link together. What happens when those links and connections are formed? When our unconscious or implicit biases differ from what we consciously think or believe, what can we do about that?
Objectives:
- Consider and understand the impact of personal perceptions and individual lenses.
- Discover methods for identifying hidden biases
- Identify mechanisms to disrupt unconscious thoughts or responses
