TU French Language and Culture in France Study Abroad Opportunity
Study French language and culture in the south of France with TU in Summer 2023. The program is based in Aix-en-Provence in the region of Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur, just 20 miles north of Marseille. Aix-en-Provence is known for its warm Mediterranean climate and history dating back to the Roman empire. Participants will take classes at the Institute for American Universities, which offers courses at all levels (beginners to advanced) in grammar, conversation, literature, and culture.
Program highlights include visits to L’Atelier de Cézanne, Montagne Sainte-Victoire, the Lavender Fields, Aix Cathedral, Cours Mirabeau, and the cities of Marseille and La Ciotat.
Participants will take 3 credit hours of French as determined by consultation with Dr. Alisha Reaves prior to departure. Courses include: FREN 101 French Elements I (3 credits, Core 5), FREN 102 French Elements II (3 credits, Core 12), FREN 201 French Intermediate I (3 credits, Core 5), FREN 202 French Intermediate II (3 credits, Core 12), FREN 301 Advanced Conversation (3 credits, Core 5), and FREN 494 Travel and Study Abroad: History and Culture of Martinique (3 credits).
