TU Italian Language and Culture in Venice
Study the history of Venice and immerse yourself in the Italian language and culture with Towson University in January 2023. The program includes visits to major historical and artistic sites and features excursions to the Isle of Murano in the Venetian Lagoon and a weekend trip to Florence. No prior knowledge of Italian language is required.
Known as the Queen of the Adriatic, the city of Venice stretches across 117 small islands in the Venetian Lagoon along the Adriatic Sea. Venice was a major center of the arts from the 13th century until the 17th century and the printing capital of the world in the 15th and 16th centuries. The influences of these periods can still be seen today in the art, architecture, and culture of Venice.
Participants will take 3 credit hours of Italian as determined by consultation prior to departure. Courses include: ITAL 101 Italian Elements, ITAL 102 Italian Elements II, ITAL 201 Italian Intermediate I, ITAL 202 Italian Intermediate II, ITAL 301 Italian Composition and Conversation I, and ITAL 494 History of Venice with Professor Margherita Pampinella.
The application deadline is October 15, 2022. Full program details and the application are available in Horizons.
